THE CAMINHA + CROSS ENIGMA

The Day the Photograph was Seen

On hearing the noises, my sons and I rushed out to find a massive tree had suddenly collapsed onto the garage of the mansion house and crushed a car.
There was one casualty, a groundsman, who had been hit by a falling roof tile and was bleeding profusely from a head wound.

I sat the man down and applied pressure to the laceration with flat of one hand, whilst using clean water to wash blood off with the other. The scene took on an eerie biblical feel as a crowd gathered and a member of the household started translating my
.....‘this will make him feel better’ .. words of comfort.

The next day, just before we left the apartment to return home, Christine and I were invited into the main house by its aristocratic owner.

I thought our hosts might be interested in the strange cross photo so I pulled this one up on the camera’s screen...
Indeed, they were fascinated and quickly asked for copies so they could show local priests as well as scientists at a respected Portuguese University.
Anyway, this was the start of a series of investigations into the reasons for the appearance of the Caminha Cross.
