During the brief crossing I took two digital photographs of the estuary,
..the first at 1308 (opposite)
..and the second at 1309 (below).
A week passed before I looked at the pictures and noticed a bright cruciform shape in the sky on the first.
(Stand back from the screen and look at how the clouds circle the bright cross image.... You will see a close up shortly)
There was nothing unusual on the second.....
(Note: if you follow the line of the bottom of the cloud bank on both pictures you will see where the cross appeared on the first but was absent on the second)
Over lunch on the same day, I showed the images to Christine and the boys and, like me, they were initially slightly amused but then puzzled by the cross shaped figure.
A short while later, and exactly 7 days after the photos had been taken from the ferry, we heard a terrible crash outside the apartment followed by screaming.......
